Wasn't so impressed with this park. We stayed in a cabin which was quite tired and smelled musty... felt like it wasnt really worth the $140 nightly rate. We also thought it would be near the Marina, but was closer to the harbour (not such great sight seeing as is a largely industrial area). There was a fishing area that looked good at first sight, but upon closer inspection, the water was black & smelly- we wouldn't eat anything that came out of it. The water park & pool were a bit with the kids until the owners came along around 5pm, put an "out of order" sign up and turned it all off with no explanation.
Staying at Big4 marine park in Mackay was a nightmare for me and my friends. The problems we faced in this facility was 1) There was only flick lock for the doors from inside there was no proper key locking. Our 3 yr old child opened the door in the middle of night and found walking along the road . Lucky he didnt get lost. 2) coffee sachets provided were hardened and not usable 3)No hand washing or shower gels in the wall mounted bottles. 4) couldnt use swimming pools after 6 pm.5) expensive too they charged $200 per night . We have been to other Big4 facilities but this was the only worst experience
Great Park for families. Facilities are more than sufficient for a multiple night stay. Staff very friendly. Highly recommended for families with children.
We felt like we were not wanted as the girl in the check in was giving me a lecture about the rain floods winds that was going to happen that night. The cyclone was still way up in the Gulf. I asked if there was a powered site and a villa for 2 available and after 10 minutes of of her weather forecast she finally said there was no villa available. Then for the next few minutes I copped another ear bashing about the other parks would be full and some were full of not the nicest people. But we could go to a motel that had room to park my van and book a room. So we went to another Caravan park on the southern outskirts of Mackay were we got a nice villa and a drive through site. The staff were very helpful not giving me an ear bashing on the weather. As a big 4 member I will not be going back to big 4 park at Mackay on harbour drive
Lovely place, site 201 with ensuite amenities good. Pools were great. Only downfall, was really noisy with constant mowing and whipper sniper all day every day for a week..hard to get rest and relaxation..
